Day 1&2 - Dallas to Washington DC to Munich to Kiev

We are sitting at the airport here in our nation's capital and have some downtime before our flight to Munich. God has been so incredible to us as we planned and prepared for this journey. Our goal for financial support was raised to 100% YESTERDAY!!! Somehow Ben knew as we sent out our support letters that not only would God provide all the money we needed, but that the last of it would probably come in the day before we left. We are incredibly excited about this amazing opportunity to see so many places and spend time with fellow believers all over the world. The church is not a building, it is the people who call Jesus Christ "Lord", no matter what their nationality or spoken language is.

We started out this morning breaking our fast with our amazing parents at a Cracker Barrel near the DFW airport. We felt our cholesterol rising as we collapsed in paroxysms of delight while enjoying our first non-veggie based food products in a month. We carpooled to the airport and enjoyed cruising past gridlock in the HOV lane as we cruised past gridlock. Once there, the six of us (Ben, Megan, & parents), joined in prayer time before our flight. We arrived at Washington, Dulles at about 2:30 CST. We are currently still here due to an unexpected delay in our flight. Praying right now for favorable tailwinds and a lead-footed captain; the hopeful result being an early arrival in Munich, Germany to make our connecting flight to Kiev, our first stop. Doug Britton is the missionary we'll be staying with and learning from until Wednesday morning.

~Note from Megan:
Just going to describe a little of what we brought with us:
We managed to pack 5 1/2 weeks worth of stuff into 3 backpacks. Please ignore the logistics of 3 backpacks on 2 backs. Let's just say my husband is a Hoss (According to Urban Dictionary.com- "one who is a beast that can basically do anything he wants. He is usually loved by all and a ladies man. He could break anyone or anything in half") Thankfully I am the only lady the man wants ;) The sun is setting here and I'm going to go try and take some pictures. If any of them turn out well, maybe we'll post them next time. Have a wonderful Friday evening and we'll blog again as soon as we can! (from Ben, my wife is both beautiful and amazing :D)

  1. Hey guys! Thanks for taking the time to keep us all posted! I'll check on here regularly, and of course, you will be in my prayers daily.

Glad to hear all of your funds were raised; gotta love God's timing. :)

    God be with you,
    CB

  2. That's an interesting quandry....three backpacks...two backs. Hmm? Anyhow, it's great to hear the trip started well and Ben got his breakfast at Cracker Barrel. We'll be praying for you.
